I also think that the author's reasoning is overly simplistic as pertaining to his Federalist leanings. It reads like eulogy in which all of the positive attributes of Lincoln are mourned by a bereaved admirer. I would recommend this work for any history buff who wants to examine a cross-section of a brief but pivotal moment in the experiment of the Constitutional Republic which we now call the United States.
